Product Highlights

The award-winning Copper Spur UL 3 3-season backpacking tent boasts an impressive interior space-to-weight ratio. The balance of weight and performance is sure to appeal to ounce-counting backpackers who don't want to skimp entirely on creature comforts.

Measuring 90” x 70”, the Copper Spur UL 3 offers 44 square feet of interior space at a trail weight of only 4 pounds, 0 ounces. These specifications make the Copper Spur UL 3 roomy enough for up to three backpackers and lightweight enough to serve as an extremely spacious 2 person shelter. Dual vestibules offer 18 square feet (9 square feet per vestibule) of additional weather-protected external storage space. Two interior mesh pockets provide places to stash gear and clothes while integrated gear loft loops offer a connection point for the Big Agnes Wall Gear Loft (sold separately).

The Copper Spur UL 3’s DAC Featherlite NSL aluminum poles are both lightweight and durable. The single hub/pole design works in conjunction with the tent body's integrated DAC Twist Clips to make setting up the Copper Spur UL 3 fast, easy and intuitive. An additional short section of pole runs across the roof of the tent and connects easily via an innovative H Clip attachment, pulling the tent body taut, increasing the verticality of the interior walls and helping to maximize the spaciousness of the two vestibules. An eco-friendly anodizing process is used by DAC to treat the poles without the toxic chemicals traditionally used on aluminum tent poles.

Ample mesh on the tent body and the large D-shaped doors encourages cross ventilation and provides circulation to fight condensation build-up. Coated with waterproof polyurethane, the rip-stop nylon floor and rainfly are lightweight and durable. All of the Copper Spur UL 3's seams are tape-sealed to further protect the tent from the elements.

Reflecting an overall commitment to maintaining as light a packed weight as possible, ten super-light aluminum J stakes are included to further secure the freestanding Copper Spur UL 3. If you really want to travel light, leave the tent body at home and use the rainfly alone with the optional Copper Spur UL 3 Footprint (sold separately) for a tarp-style set-up that weighs a mere 3 pounds, 3 ounces.

Likes: Its the perfect 2 man tent. 2 large men and all of their gear will fit inside the tent. 3 people can fit in a pinch (but not thier gear). Its light packs small and despite its thin materal is very durable. I thought about purchacing it for over a year and my only regret is that I did't buy it when I first thought about it.

Dislikes: The regular retail price is a little high. Wait for a sale.

Likes: After years of using Eureka decided to switch to something lighter.
Ended up shaving 4 something pounds and getting much better thought of tent. Two entrances are way better than one, tent fits two adults easily + all the gear. Don't think third person with his/her gear would feel comfortable though. Plenty of air, good ventilation, easy to setup (watch for that 5" tube that flies off). Used the tent for about 10 days in Nevada desert - no complains. The only concern was that dust does get through the netting no matter how tight you close all the zippers, but either that or no ventilation. Didn't have a chance yet to check it in rainy conditions though.

Dislikes: The floor seems kinda flimsy - would not mind a bit thicker fabric just for the peace of mind. Otherwise have to check the footprint, however paying $70 for a piece of nylon is not on my priority list right now.

Likes: Another terrific design by Big Agnes! All the details are so well executed and the materials seem top notch. Our tent weighed in at 4.02 lbs with sacks, poles & fly. For my wife and I this is a great piece of backpacking real estate - palatial, solid, very lightweight. I have used a similar design BA tent in 45 mph torrential horizontal rain and stayed dry. In over 45 years of backcountry travel, and many different tents used or owned, this is one of the very best I have experienced.

Dislikes: Only comes with 8 high quality lightweight stakes - add a few more to get the fly well guyed.
