New for 2009! The award-winning Big Agnes Copper Spur series has expanded to include a spacious solo offering, the Copper Spur UL 1. Boasting an impressive interior space to weight ratio, the Copper Spur UL 1 is sure to appeal to ounce-counting backpackers who don't want to skimp on creature comforts.
Slightly tapered from the head to the foot of the tent, the interior of the 3-season Copper Spur UL 1 measures 42" at its widest point and stretches a full 90" in length. With 22 sq. ft. of interior space and a trail weight of only 2 lb. 11 oz., the Copper Spur UL 1 offers ample room for solo hikers. A large front vestibule offers 10 sq ft of additional weather-protected external storage space and a zip-thru passage on the interior of the tent body grants access to a small rear vestibule. Integrated gear loft loops offer a connection point for the Big Agnes Wall Gear Loft (sold separately).
DAC Featherlite NSL aluminum poles are both lightweight and durable. The single hub/pole design works in conjunction with the tent body's integrated DAC Twist Clips to make setting up the Copper Spur UL 1 fast, easy and intuitive. An additional short section of pole runs across the roof the Copper Spur UL 1 and connects easily via an innovative HClip attachment, pulling the tent body taut, increasing the verticality of the interior walls and helping to improve the spaciousness of the two vestibules. An eco-friendly anodizing process is used by DAC to treat the poles without the toxic chemicals traditionally used on aluminum tent poles.
Ample mesh on the tent body and a large D-shaped door maximize cross ventilation and provides circulation to fight condensation build-up. Coated with waterproof polyurethane, the rip-stop nylon floor and rainfly are lightweight and durable. All of the Copper Spur UL 1's seams are tape-sealed to further protect the tent from the elements.
Reflecting an overall commitment to maintaining as light a packed weight as possible, super-light x-peg stakes are included to further secure the freestanding Copper Spur UL 1. If you really want to travel light, leave the tent body at home and use the rainfly alone with the optional Copper Spur UL 1 Footprint (sold separately), a tarp-style set-up that weighs a mere 2 lb 2 oz
